Dev Log #9 | Quests Revamp and Carry Limits V0.02


To start off the post-conversion of Tower of Ravendale, I wanted to rework what the quests were and add a carry limit for useable times. The quests felt as if they were just mindless pickup and turn in. I wanted to make them a choice that can impact how the player choices them. The carry limit was to add a little more difficulty while still giving the player the ablitiy to use any useables if they had them. Thanks for reading and playing!

~~~ Quest Changes ~~~

    --- Kill Quests ---

There is a Unique Opponent that appeared in the side paths. Find and Kill them!

They have randomize stats and new modifiers.

They will always have a prefix no matter the level.

Rewards for the quest is based around the stats of the opponent however, the based reward is 1 coin and 1 xp per 2 player levels.

The new modifiers are as followed:

- Burning Touch: +10% damage and a 25% chance to cause a 1% burn damage for 1 turn to the player.

- Blazing: The opponent is on fire and will take 1% damage over time for the whole combat.

- Chilling Touch: -10% damage and a 10% chance to stun the player for 1 turn.

- Frozen: The opponent's first 3 turn are skipped and every 3rd turn after is skipped

- Draining Touch: Every attack takes 1% or 2% of mana.

- Drained: Half of the physical damage done by the player is returned as mana.

    --- Raid Quests ---

You are tasked with culling as many opponents before you can die and The Tower know this!

The Tower will grow by +15 length and a higher chance of rooms appearing.

If you die you lose all rewards collected up till then.

The rewards per kill are as followed:

- Common Opponents: 2 coins and 2 xp

- Boss Opponents: 4 coins and 8 xp

There is an elite version of the quest that increase the dungeons difficulty

The elite version give a +2 to per kill rewards

- Common Opponents: 4 coins and 4 xp

- Boss Opponents: 6 coins and 10 xp

Any effect on the dungeon will stay till the quest is turned in.

    --- Fetch Quests ---

You see that someone is look for a object in the dungeon! You accepted hoping for some easy coins!

There is a chance for a strange object being dropped by opponents and from chests!

Beware the object could be cursed!

Cursed Effects:

    - Reduced Health: Max Health Reduced by 10%

    - Reduced Mana: Max Mana Reduced by 10%

    - Reduced Damage: Player Damage reduced by 10%

    - Curse Plague: Player will receive 2 points of damage per turn

    - Weaken Bones: Player will take 50% more damage in the dungeon

To remove these curses, the player must turn in the quest!

~~~ Throwables, Potions, and Poison Changes ~~~

Added a carry limit for useable items.

    -Poisons: 1
    -Health Potions: 3

    -Mana Potions: 3

    -Light throwables (throwing knives): 6

    -Heavy Throwables (Throwing Axes): 3

New Utility Item: Belts

Belts are used to increase the carry limit per dungeon

You can buy belts from the new store. The General Store will sell only belts at the moment.

There are 2 quality of belts: hide and Leather.

Alchemy Belts increases the amount of potions and poisons the player can carry +1 or +2 based on the quality

Throwers Belts Increases the amount of throwables the player can carry +2 or +3 based on the quality

The General Belt only has 1 quality and increases potions and poisons carry limit by +1 and and throwables by +2.

While in the dungeon and combat, the check command will show what you brought into the dungeon.

If you die during the dungeon, you will lose everything you were carrying.

~~~ Misc Changes ~~~

added a corridor, left corner, or right corner after starting room. Encounters can still happen in the corridor.

~~~ Bug Fixes ~~~

Fixed: Chest reward telling the player they have received 1 or 2 of "0"

Fixed: Geomancy spell Bunker didn't work.

Fixed: Mid level curse having high level curse values
